New Delhi. After Kane Williamson, another veteran has left the captaincy after a poor performance in the T20 World Cup. Uganda captain Brian Masaba announced to leave the captaincy after returning home. The Ugandan team was able to register just one win against Papua New Guinea in the T20 World Cup, due to which the team finished fourth in Group C with two points.

All-rounder Brian Masaba was the captain of Uganda for the last five years. Masaba has scored 439 runs in 63 T20 international matches besides taking 24 wickets. Apart from fast bowling, he/she can also do spin bowling which includes off break and leg break bowling. 32-year-old Masaba took 5 wickets in the T20 World Cup. However, he/she could not show much magic with the bat.

In a speech shared on social media by the Uganda Cricket Association, Masaba said, “I have been thinking about stepping down from captaincy for some time. It has been a great honor for me to lead the country’s team for the last five years.”

Brian Masaba is the second player to leave captaincy after the T20 World Cup. Before him/her, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has done so. Kane Williamson has even rejected New Zealand Cricket’s central contract. However, he/she has made it clear that he/she will continue to play cricket for New Zealand. he/she has no intention of retiring right now.
