Bridgetown. The Indian team has reached West Indies for the Super-8 matches of the T20 World Cup. The team sweated it out in its first practice session in Bridgetown on Monday. India will play against Afghanistan (Ind vs AFG T20 World Cup) in its first Super-8 match here on Thursday. The Indian team played all its group stage matches in the US. Scoring runs on the US pitches proved to be quite difficult and most teams kept oscillating between 100 and 120 runs.

In the Indian team’s practice session in Bridgetown, especially Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav were seen working hard. Kohli disappointed on the difficult pitches of New York and could score only 5 runs in three innings of the group stage. Ravindra Jadeja has also not made any significant contribution in batting or bowling so far. Kuldeep’s case is different. he/she did not get a place in the playing eleven in the group stage. It is believed that Kuldeep will be included in the playing eleven considering the Caribbean pitches.

The legend who dismissed Rohit 8 times and Kohli 6 times played his/her last match, his/her specialty was taking wickets in the first over

All the members of the Indian team attended the first practice session in Barbados. This was also because India’s last group match could not be played due to rain. Therefore, the players were eager to make the most of the session on Monday.

The New York pitch has been criticised continuously and now the focus is on the pitches being made available at six venues in the Caribbean. India captain Rohit Sharma asked his/her players about the practice pitches while going to the nets. he/she asked Jasprit Bumrah, ‘How is the pitch?’ Bumrah seemed happy with the pitches made available for practice.

After warming up on the field, Kohli was the first to hit the nets along with Jadeja. The former captain faced throwdowns for at least 30 minutes before facing Kuldeep and Hardik Pandya. Kohli was seen playing lofted drives over extra cover before practising the pull against Bumrah. Kohli hooked a short ball from India’s top fast bowler to the fine leg region. Both the players were all smiles after this.

Batting on the adjacent nets, Jadeja tried a slog sweep and an inside out drive over extra cover against the net bowler’s leg spin. Rishabh Pant, India’s best batsman till date, faced Bumrah, Hardik, Kuldeep and Axar Patel in the nets. Hardik also came out for batting practice. Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey and Yashasvi Jaiswal also batted in the nets. Siraj and Arshdeep Singh got the ball to swing a lot due to the wind blowing throughout the premises. (input language)
