T20 World Cup: Host America’s batsman created havoc, Canada suffered a crushing defeat

New Delhi. Host USA has started the ICC T20 World Cup with a bang. The pair of Andries Gaus and Aaron Jones batted explosively and exhausted the Canadian bowlers. Batting first, the team scored 194 runs for 5 wickets on the basis of fifties by Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton. The American batsmen proved this score to be small. Both scored fifties and almost finished the match by making a century partnership. USA achieved the target of victory by losing 3 wickets in 17.4 overs.

The host team USA, which played its first match of ICC T20 World Cup against Canada, started the tournament in a great manner. Captain Monank Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first against Canada. Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton hit fifties and took the team to a score of 194 runs, then it seemed that the target would prove to be difficult for the host team. Steven Taylor got out without opening the account and then captain Monank also managed to score just 16 runs. After taking two wickets, Canada appeared to be playing dominatingly.

Andries Gaus and Aaron Jones changed the match

After losing the first two wickets against Canada, the pair of Andries Gaus and Aaron Jones turned the match around. Both of them not only scored fifties but also thrashed the Canadian bowlers. Aaron Jones completed his/her fifty by hitting 6 sixes and 1 four in just 22 balls, while on the other hand Andries Gaus scored a half century by hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes in 39 balls.
