Synthetic Drug: Synthetic drug has become the biggest threat in the whole world, Dr. Rahul Gupta told how it can be controlled.

New Delhi: In the last few years, synthetic drugs have emerged as the biggest threat in the entire world including India. Millions of people around the world are falling prey to it. Especially the young generation. The Internet has changed the way drugs are obtained and even used. With the click of a few buttons, these extremely dangerous drugs are easily available to the people and the drug mafia has now shifted from organic drug business to synthetic drugs. Since synthetic drugs are easy to produce and do not require much farming or other resources to produce them, they are currently the most widely used. To stop the spread of this drug, all the countries of the world will have to fight a common battle. India is also falling prey to this and to avoid this danger, India and America need to make joint operations and policies.

Both countries worried over huge haul of drugs

Indian-origin Dr. Rahul Gupta is the director of National Drug Control Policy in America. Dr. Rahul is the first doctor to lead the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. he/she is playing a key role with the Biden Administration in the global policy and action to prevent the spread of drugs at the global level. he/she is on a tour to India in which he/she discussed the action plan and future strategy for drug prevention. In fact, the recent consignment of drugs worth billions in both the countries has emerged as a big concern. Gupta said that the huge consignment of 900 kg of cocaine which was recovered recently in Delhi was successful with the help of joint operation and input of both the countries.

In a special conversation with NBT, Dr. Rahul Gupta said that the Central Government led by Narendra Modi in India has also taken many important steps in drug prevention and America is ready to help India at every level in India’s drug-free campaign. he/she said that the two countries are also jointly investigating the large quantity of drugs seized in India recently. In July last year, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken launched a global coalition to deal with synthetic drug threats. Since then many important initiatives have been taken in this matter and Dr. Rahul Gupta’s visit to India was in the context of that alliance.

Synthetic drug is very dangerous

he/she said that the way the entire business shifted from organic drugs to synthetic drugs is a very dangerous trend and if it is not controlled now, the entire world may suffer the consequences. he/she said that in the last four years, the Biden administration in America To deal with this threat to the entire world, many such efforts have been made one after the other, the effect of which is now visible but the fight is yet to be fought. he/she said that 155 countries have formed a coalition to deal with this threat and India’s role in this is that of a global leader. he/she said that last time when Indian PM Narendra Modi was in America, a common framework for drug prevention was made between the two countries. A lot of work has been done on it in recent times. The current visit is also part of the same framework.

The top official of the US administration said that there are many levels of measures being taken to control drugs. The biggest challenge is to stop its trafficking and then arrest the players associated with it. For this. The operation of both the countries on counter narcotics is going on from land to sea. Apart from this, he/she said that rehabilitation of the people affected by this drug and bringing them into the social mainstream is also a big challenge. Dr. Gupta said that without this the efforts will not be successful. he/she said that four years ago the figures were that deaths in America had increased by 31 percent due to drug overdose but in these four years it has decreased by 40 percent.
