What is Infantry?

It is noteworthy that the foot soldiers of the Indian Army are called Infantry. Infantry Day is celebrated to recognize its contribution. On October 27, 1947, the first contingent of Indian infantry landed at Srinagar airport. This Infantry then played a vital role in the defense of the state of Jammu and Kashmir from invaders. This battalion of the Sikh Regiment had saved the people of Jammu and Kashmir from the evil intentions of the Pakistani tribals and the Pakistani Army. This brave action foiled Pakistan’s plan to capture Jammu and Kashmir.

Apart from these wars, the professionalism and commitment of the Infantry are exemplified in the counter-terrorism operations in the North and North-East, Operation Blue Star and Operation Rakshak in Punjab, Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka and the recent Operation Snow Leopard in Eastern Ladakh. , which ensured the success of these campaigns.
