Swara Bhaskar said- CJI Chandrachud has time for Ganesh Puja with PM Modi, but not for hearing on Omar

Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar, famous for her outspokenness, is once again in the news. A video of Swara is going viral on social media, in which she is openly expressing her opinion in favor of Muslim youth like Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) alumnus and jailed Umar Khalid. Swara, raising questions on the country’s justice system, says that the judges do not have time to hear the case of Umar Khalid, who has been in jail for four years, but CJI DY Chandrachud has time to do Ganesh Puja with Prime Minister Modi. This statement of Swara has come at a time when Congress leader Digvijay Singh has also supported the Muslim youth who have been in jail for 4 years in protest against CAA-NRC. The veteran leader said, ‘It is said that bail is the rule and jail is the exception. But why does it happen that when it is the turn of Muslims, this rule changes. People like Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi were opposing the law which was not needed at all.

Swara Bhaskar spoke while raising questions on the justice system of the country

Swara Bhaskar says in this viral video, ‘Those who went to cross 400 have been dealt with in 240 only. Our country gives the right that everyone is equal before the justice system in our country. Equality in front of justice has no meaning if there is no equal treatment for everyone regarding justice. Coincidentally, I was born in a Hindu family, coincidentally I was born in an upper caste family. Coincidentally, I was born in a family which was itself educated, in English medium. Coincidentally, I am educated in English medium and can speak and coincidentally I have worked in Bollywood. So maybe those who arrested Umar and other companions in the same cases, thought that maybe this would be too much.’

Swara said- you can call a Muslim a terrorist

Swara further said, ‘You can call a Muslim a terrorist but calling a Hindu ex-naval officer, the daughter of a teacher-professor mother a terrorist will be a bit too much, it will not be easy… for our media.’ She said, ‘Omar had a bail date in that and before that the judge recused himself from it… I don’t think I am capable of hearing this case. Why, why are you not capable? You must have studied well to become a judge. I think you must be getting salary from our tax money.’

‘Isn’t this a betrayal of the citizens of India?’

Swara said, ‘You must be living in the houses built by the government, your life is comfortable on the perks you have received from our tax money, then why do you have the right to turn away from it, from your responsibilities. Is this not a betrayal of the citizens of India? You see the case, you read the book, decide whatever you want to decide on it… you are not getting time? Kapil Sibal sahab said give us 20 minutes, you are not getting 20 minutes? You got a lot of time to do Ganesh Puja with the honorable Prime Minister. Otherwise judges do not get 20 minutes to work! What are you afraid of? The common citizen is afraid of jail, afraid of being beaten up. Muslims get beaten up anywhere. Poor Dalits in this country get beaten up anywhere.’

Swara asked- what is the need, do you want the post of Governor, do you want to go to Rajya Sabha?

She said, ‘We too may be afraid that we won’t get work, shows will be stopped. Those who have small children will have different kinds of fears, what are you afraid of? You have the whole system. You have the entire government machinery. By the time you reach the Supreme Court, High Court, you will be above 50-60 years. Your children must have grown up, you teach them in good and big colleges, send them to universities outside…they also settle down, they also have children…so what are you afraid of now in this old age? What greed do you have now, what do you want now? What is the need, you want the post of Governor, you want to go to Rajya Sabha, you have so much greed that we are asking you to do your work but you are not doing it? I don’t believe that this is any kind of justice. Justice is in doing, not in speaking. Justice is not speech, justice is in action.’
