Swami Vivekananda Education: How did Vivekananda become so promising by education? Here are the names of their schools and colleges


Swami Vivekananda Educational Qualification in Hindi: Today, 12th January, is the 161st birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The country is celebrating Swamiji’s birth anniversary as National Youth Day. Swami Vivekananda gave a powerful speech at the Parliament of the World’s Religions held in Chicago on 11 September 1893. Today we will talk about the education of Swami Vivekananda. Let us take a look at the names of which schools and colleges he/she took education from, where Swami Vivekananda became so intelligent and promising after studying.

In 1971, when Swami Vivekananda was 8 years old, he/she was admitted to the Metropolitan Institution of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar School in Calcutta.

Swami Vivekananda studied in Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar School till the year 1877. After this his/her family came to Raipur in Madhya Pradesh which is within today’s Chhattisgarh state.

Stayed with Narendra Nath Dutt family in Raipur for one and a half years. After coming to Raipur, Narendranath i.e. Swami Vivekananda’s studies stopped. Rajagopal Chattopadhyay in his/her book ‘Swami Vivekananda in India: A Corrective Biography ‘ It is written that there was no school in a remote area like Raipur, so Narendra Nath Dutt did not go to study at that time, but he/she had to visit the houses of many educated people, with whom he/she talked a lot.

Among these people was Roy Bahadur Bhootnath De, father of the famous linguist and historian Harinath De. Roy Bhootnath Dey was a government official of Central Province at that time.

Rajagopal Chattopadhyay writes in the biography of Swami Vivekananda that when Narendra Nath Dutt returned to Calcutta with his/her family in the year 1879, he/she again took admission in his/her old school, Metropolitan Institution. From here he/she passed high school in first division.
