Sunita’s mother-in-law had imposed a ban on this thing after marriage, told that Govinda had hidden the marriage

Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja is in the news these days. She recently spoke about the restrictions she faced after her marriage in a podcast. She told that she grew up in Mumbai’s affluent Pali Hill, while Govinda was from Virar, a difference she had to struggle with initially. Sunita told that when Tina was born, Govinda was not with her. She had to raise her alone. In the ‘Time Out with Ankit’ podcast, Sunita said, ‘I never thought that I would love and marry Govinda.’ She revealed that she married Govinda when she was just 18 years old and a year later she had a daughter. She jokingly recalled how she had to change her clothes from miniskirts to saris because Govinda’s mother would not allow her to wear modern clothes.

Govinda’s mother did not like Sunita wearing short clothes

Sunita said, ‘I used to wear both miniskirts and sarees. That’s why my husband hated me. I used to tell him/her, I am from Bandra, you are from Virar, boss. And he/she used to say, ‘No, my mother will not like it.’ She said, Govinda had no problem with actresses wearing short clothes in his/her films, but she did.

Sunita Ahuja spoke on 40 years of marriage

Talking about their 40-year-long relationship, Sunita said, ‘If there is anyone other than his/her mother whom he/she loves, it is me. I have been with him/her since the time he/she was not a megastar. There must be a reason why we have been together for 40 years, otherwise when do you hear of such long-lasting relationships these days?’

Govinda was working during Tina’s birth

Sunita also revealed that their marriage was kept a secret for a year as they were worried that it might affect their stardom. She recalled the day when their daughter Tina was born, and the actor was not there as he/she was busy working five shifts. ‘My mother-in-law was with me and after every shift, he/she would check in and ask if the baby was born. When he/she was on his/her third shift of the day, Tina was born. I didn’t realise how big a star he/she was.’

If the hero got married, it affected his/her stardom

he/she further said that earlier there was a notion that if a hero is not single then it affects his/her stardom. he/she said that this was the trend at that time, but when his/her daughter Tina was born, everyone came to know about his/her marriage. Govinda and Sunita got married in 1987 and have two children, Tina and Yashvardhan.
