Degrees of Shrikant Jichkar

Shrikant Jichkar completed his/her schooling and then completed his/her MBBS and MD degrees from Nagpur University. However, he/she did not stop there. he/she pursued degrees in different subjects over the years.

These degrees include economics, Sanskrit, history, public administration, sociology, English literature, philosophy, political science and ancient Indian history, culture and archaeology. Apart from this, he/she also obtained a master’s degree in international law, MBA, doctorate in business management, graduate degree in journalism and Doctor of Literature in Sanskrit.

Jichkar would appear for these exams every summer and winter and continue to expand his/her knowledge. Between 1973 and 1990, Jichkar reportedly appeared for 42 university exams and successfully obtained 20 degrees. The numerous gold medals he/she received throughout his/her academic career highlight his/her dedication and intellect.

In the year 1978, Shrikant Jichkar cleared the prestigious UPSC exam and became a central civil servant in the Indian Police Service. However, he/she cleared the UPSC exam again in 1980 to become an IAS officer. Shortly after, he/she quit the job to enter politics and became the youngest Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) at the age of just 26. he/she was appointed minister with the responsibility of 14 departments.

Shrikant Jichkar’s political career has been as impressive as his/her academic achievements. he/she served in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 1980 to 1985 and the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1986 to 1992. he/she also represented Maharashtra as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 1992 to 1998.

In 1992, Jichkar founded the Sandipani School in Nagpur, further promoting education in the region. he/she died in a car accident near Kondhali, about 50 km from Nagpur, on 2 June 2004, at the age of just 49. he/she left behind a legacy of intellectual achievement and public service in his/her short life.
