Study in UK: If this happens, the common man of India will not be able to study in Britain! You will have to keep a huge amount in your account

Study in UK: Britain is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Every year lakhs of students go here to study, including a large number of Indians. However, studying in Britain is now going to be even more expensive. In fact, the limit of bank balance required for international students coming to study in Britain has been increased. Foreign students taking admission in British universities have to show that they have enough money to bear their own expenses while studying in Britain. According to the country’s Home Ministry, foreign students should have the necessary money to study their course every month (maximum nine months). According to the new rules, students studying in London will have to show proof of having 1,483 pounds (about Rs 1.5 lakh) every month. At the same time, for those studying outside London, this amount will be 1,136 pounds (about Rs 1.1 lakh) per month. International students present evidence of having sufficient money through their bank statements.

How much money was required earlier to study in Britain?

Currently, foreign students studying in London have to show proof of having 1,334 pounds (about Rs 1.3 lakh) every month and 1,023 pounds (about Rs 1 lakh) in their bank outside London. The new increase has been made by the government in view of the increase in the maintenance loan given to British students. A report states that it has not been updated since 2020.

How much money will be required to study in UK now?

New rules have been announced by the British government. These rules will apply to students coming to Britain on or after January 2, 2025. The government has said that it will keep changing these requirements from time to time according to changes in inflation and household maintenance loans. Under the new rules, students planning to study in London for nine months or more will have to show a total savings amount of 13,348 pounds (about Rs 13 lakh) while applying for a visa.

It will be difficult for foreign students to come to Britain

According to Nick Skevington, head of international student recruitment at Exeter University, this change alone will not have a significant impact. But according to a report by PIE, there have been many recent changes in policies that may make it difficult for students to come to the UK.

The government says that students can also use ‘offset’. That is, if students have already deposited money for their stay in the UK, then they will not have to show much savings. Apart from this, if you are already living in the UK for some other reason for at least 12 months before the date of your application, then you do not need to show your savings.
