For this, a law is being brought, named ‘Education Services for Overseas Students Amendment (Quality and Integrity) Bill 2024’. At present this bill is being discussed a lot. Through this law, the number of foreign students will be limited to 2,70,000 in 2025. Announcing this bill, Education Minister Jason Clair said that it is important to maintain quality and honesty in the international education sector. There is a sizeable number of Indian students studying in Australian universities. In such a situation, it is going to affect them. However, apart from Australia, there are three countries in its neighborhood where Indians can go to study. Let us know about them.

New Zealand

New Zealand is considered one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Recently there was a change in the work permit for foreign students. Post-Study Work Visa will now also be granted to students who have completed a 30-week Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) and are seeking immediate admission to a Masters degree. With this decision, students have the option of doing a job after completing their studies. The cost of living for students in New Zealand is around 20,000-25,000 New Zealand dollars per year.

Many top universities are also present here, in which the first name comes from Auckland University. It is ranked 65th in the QS World University Rankings. 40 undergraduate and 97 postgraduate programs are taught here. Waikato University located in Hamilton is also one of the best institutions in the country. It has been ranked 235th in the QS ranking. Massey University is located in Palmerston North and is known for its strong research focus.

Indonesia

Indonesia, a country of 17,508 small and big islands, is known for its rich cultural heritage. Here Indian students can get education by spending less money compared to other countries. The cost of living in Indonesia is also quite low. The annual expenditure here is between Rs 1.6 lakh to Rs 2.4 lakh. ‘University of Indonesia’ is the top institute of the country, which has been ranked 206th in the QS ranking. This institute is located in Depok and more than 32,000 students are studying here.

More than 2300 foreign students are also studying in ‘Indonesia University’. ‘Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia’ located in the capital Jakarta is also the best institute in the country. Around 9000 students are studying here. Located in Yogyakarta, ‘Indonesia Islamic University’ is a good option for those who want to study in the cultural center of Indonesia. The university, which has more than 25,000 students, has 131 foreign students.

malaysia

This country located in Asia is rapidly emerging in the higher education sector. While studying here, students not only get modern facilities, but the cost of living and food is also low. The one year living expenses of the students here range between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), ranked 138th in the QS ranking, is the top institute in the country. 17,701 students are studying here, out of which 6,264 are foreign students. Universiti Science Malaysia (USM) is located in Penang and is ranked 146th in the QUS ranking. This institute is very popular for postgraduate studies. 21 thousand students are studying here, out of which almost half i.e. 10 thousand are foreign students. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is ranked 148th in the QS ranking. This university has 18,007 students, including 6,017 foreign students.
