Students of this state will study in Britain for ‘free’, government will also bear the living expenses, this important agreement signed with UK

Chevening Scholarship for Indians: Thousands of students from India go to study in Britain every year. The world’s top universities are present in Britain, which includes institutions like Cambridge University, Oxford University, University College London, Imperial College London. Education in Britain is very expensive, due to which it is very important for students to get scholarship. A special scholarship is run by the British Government, which is known as Chevening Scholarship.
Through the Chevening Scholarship, students can study a master’s degree in the UK for one year. Students receiving this scholarship do not have to pay tuition fees. The student’s living expenses and flight fare are also covered by the scholarship. This is the reason why students from all over the world apply to get it, which increases the competition. However, one state of India has made an agreement, through which five out of the total scholarships will be given only to the students of this state.

Five slots reserved for Nagaland students

In fact, the Nagaland government has signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ (MoU) with the British High Commission, under which five scholarship slots will be reserved for the youth of the state. The MoU was signed by Abu Metha, Chairman of Nagaland Investment and Development Authority and Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata. Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio and British High Commissioner Linda Cameron were also present during this MoU signed at the Chief Minister’s residence.

What did the Nagaland government say?

The statement issued by the government said, Chevening Scholarship is given through the Government of Britain. Its objective is to promote talented people with leadership potential. Under this scholarship, full funding is available for a one-year master’s degree at any university in Britain. This helps students gain the necessary knowledge and skills in their chosen fields. As per the MoU, the Nagaland government will partially fund these reserved seats.

The statement further said, future leaders will be prepared through this scholarship. At present there is a need for skilled people for the development of the state. When the people studying through this scholarship work in the state, it will lead to the development of Nagaland.
