Strictness increased before assembly elections, search operations in trains, record amount of jewellery and cash seized

New Delhi: In view of the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, illegal gold, silver, liquor and other banned items and cash have been seized through trains. This has been caught in a joint operation conducted by the Railway Protection Force and Northern Railway. According to the information, on September 5, illegal material and cash worth more than Rs 5,74,61,114 crore was seized by conducting a search operation at New Delhi, Ambala and Bathinda stations of Northern Railway.What was found during the search?
The team of Railway Protection Force New Delhi seized 24 pieces from the parcel van of train number 12381 Poorva Express, train number 12951 Mumbai Rajdhani Express and train number 12925 Paschim Express at New Delhi station. These pieces included a 498 gram gold bar. Which was worth about Rs 36,70,260. At the same time, 365.704 kg of silver worth about Rs 2,79,56,995 crore was recovered. Apart from this, cash worth Rs 85,72,360 was recovered. A total of Rs 4,01,99,615 was recovered. Further action is being taken by the team of Income Tax Department. This is the biggest recovery made in a day by the Railway Protection Force and Northern Railway.

Similarly, during checking of train number 12926 Paschim Express in Ambala Cantt, two kilograms of gold jewellery and other artificial jewellery were recovered from two trolley bags. Their value is estimated to be around Rs 1,51,60,000. Along with this, Rs 5 lakh cash was also recovered. Further action regarding the recovered jewellery and cash is being taken by the Income Tax Department and Ambala Election Committee.

Case filed against many
Apart from this, Railway Protection Force Bathinda has recovered 12 laptops and other electronic items worth Rs 16,01,499 from six people during checking of general coach of train number 12455 Bikaner Express. Sales Tax and Income Tax Department have been informed in this regard. A case has been registered against all six people under Railway Act.
