Strength of Army and Navy will increase! Defense Ministry approved 5 projects worth Rs 21 thousand crores


New Delhi: The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved proposals worth more than Rs 21,772 crore. With the sanctioned funds, necessary equipment for the armed forces including modern water jet fast attack craft and helicopters will be purchased. Along with this, approval has also been given for overhaul of engines of T-72 and T-90 tanks, BMP and Sukhoi fighter planes. This will increase their service period.

Under this approval given on Tuesday, Approval of Need (AON) has been granted for a total of five defense deals. The Defense Acquisition Council, chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved the purchase of 31 new water jet fast attack craft for the Navy. Approval has also been given for the purchase of 120 Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC-1).

31 new water jet fast attack craft

According to the Defense Ministry, AON has been granted for the procurement of Electronic Warfare Suite (EWS). Approval has also been granted for procurement of 6 Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) M (MR). DAC has granted Acceptance of Requirement (AoN) for procurement of 31 new Water Jet Fast Attack Craft (NWJFAC) for the Indian Navy. These water jet fast attack craft are designed to conduct low intensity maritime operations, surveillance, patrol and search and rescue (SAR) operations close to the coast.

120 Fast Interceptor Craft

The Defense Ministry says that apart from this, these ships will play an effective role in anti-piracy operations especially in and around our island territories. The ships for which DAC provided AON for procurement of 120 Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC-1) will escort aircraft carriers, destroyers and frigates to warships and submarines for coastal defence.

Along with this, he/she is capable of playing many other roles. At the same time, the Electronic Warfare Suite (EWS) includes external airborne self protection jammer pods, next generation radar warning receivers and related equipment for the Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft. This system will enhance the operational capabilities of the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI.

Protected by air defense systems, it will protect the aircraft from enemy radar and associated weapon systems while carrying out a mission against enemy targets. DAC has provided AoN for procurement of 6 Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) M (MR) for Indian Coast Guard to strengthen coastal security and surveillance in coastal areas.
