This is the case of a 30-year-old Scottish man. While driving, he/she stopped his/her sneeze by closing his/her nose and mouth. The pressure of the sneeze was so strong that a hole of 0.08 inches was created in his/her throat. he/she had to be taken to the hospital. According to experts, if both the mouth and nose are closed during sneezing, then the pressure in the upper airway can increase up to 20 times.

After treatment, it was found that the person had surgical emphysema. This is a problem when air gets trapped in the deepest tissue under your skin. The CT scan showed that the hole was trapped between the third and fourth layers of his/her neck. Air was accumulating in the space between the lungs in the chest.
