Spouses of Indian workers will not be allowed to work in US! ‘Disaster’ will come due to the orders of Trump’s new government

Donald Trump on H-4 visa: Republican Party candidate Donald Trump has got a landslide victory in the presidential elections. he/she is going to become the President of America for the second time. Trump is going to take oath as President on January 20 next year, but even before the formation of the new government, the stir in America has intensified. There may be a change in immigration policy under the Trump government, which will not make it easy to live in America. However, the biggest changes are likely to be in the crucial H-4 visa for Indians.
In fact, with Donald Trump becoming the President, more than one lakh Indian families are worried. Most Indians who go to work in America are given H-1B visa. H-1B visa is available to skilled workers, who do some specialty work. H-1B visa holders can bring their dependents i.e. spouse and children to America on H-4 visa. In the US, spouses or partners of some H-1B visa holders are allowed to work through H-4 visa EAD.

What are the benefits of EAD?

There is a discussion going on regarding Trump’s second term that the permission given to work on H-4 visa may be withdrawn. Indians settled in America say that ‘Employment Authorization Document’ (EAD) is not just a means of earning. This is a document related to their identity. Spouses of H-1B visa holders get a Social Security Number through EAD. Along with opening a bank account, they can also get a driving license. This makes living in America easier.

Why did the discussion start about abolishing EAD?

In fact, during the last term of Donald Trump, an executive order was issued in which the slogan ‘Buy American things, hire Americans’ was given. Working under this thinking, the Trump government proposed to cancel the work permission given to H-4 visa holders. However, before this rule was implemented, Joe Biden’s government was formed and then this proposal was canceled in January 2021. There is a possibility of EAD being canceled once again if Trump becomes President again.

Speaking to TOI, immigration attorney Ashwin Sharma said, “Indian families will once again be targeted due to Trump’s return. Especially those families with spouses living on H-4 visas will be most affected. Eliminating H-4 work permits is going to be a huge economic and mental blow to those working in technology, healthcare and other sectors who have been waiting for green cards for decades. Are.”
