Indians settled in America say that ‘Employment Authorization Document’ (EAD) is not just a means of earning. This is a document related to their identity. Spouses of H-1B visa holders get a Social Security Number through EAD. Along with opening a bank account, they can also get a driving license. This makes living in America easier.

Why did the discussion start about abolishing EAD?

In fact, during the last term of Donald Trump, an executive order was issued in which the slogan ‘Buy American things, hire Americans’ was given. Working under this thinking, the Trump government proposed to cancel the work permission given to H-4 visa holders.
