Spadex Mission: ISRO a few meters away from creating history, 3 meter trial… ISRO comes very close to docking

New Delhi : India is close to creating history in the world of space. Under ISRO’s Spadex mission, India has come very close to docking two satellites in space for the first time. According to the update released by ISRO, trials were conducted to reach 15 meters and then 3 meters. After this the spacecraft were taken back to a safe distance. Further analysis of the data will lead to further docking procedures. The Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX) mission involves complex technology. To complete this work, back-and-forth activities are being carried out. ISRO has described this as an ‘exciting handshake’ of two satellites in space. Both satellites, S01 (chaser) and SDX02 (target) were at a distance of 230 meters from each other last night when ISRO said its sensors were being evaluated and their condition was normal.

Launching took place on 30th December

The Spadex mission was launched on December 30 with a PSLV C60 rocket. It took off from Sriharikota carrying both the satellites. Placed them in a circular orbit of 475 kilometers. ISRO had twice postponed the historic docking of the two satellites. ISRO Chief Dr. S. Somnath had said that this was India’s first attempt at docking and every first attempt has its own challenges.
With the success of this mission, India will become the fourth country to achieve this feat, which will help the country in future space exploration like the Indian Space Station.
