South Africa’s shameful performance, made lowest score against Afghanistan, even 100 runs are difficult…


New Delhi. Afghanistan cricket team did not get a chance to play a test match in India last week. Rain and bad stadium in Noida had forced the match between Afghanistan and New Zealand to be cancelled. Afghanistan took out its anger on South Africa and allowed them to cross 100 runs with great difficulty. The African team was all out for 106 runs in 33.3 overs. This is South Africa’s lowest score against Afghanistan in ODI format.

An ODI match was played between Afghanistan and South Africa in Sharjah on Wednesday. In the first match of this three-match series, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. South Africa must have hoped that by batting first, it would score a big score. Afghanistan dashed its hopes.

Lost first wicket on 17 runs
South Africa lost their first wicket at a score of 17. Opener Reeza Hendricks (9) was the first African batsman to get out. After this, it was as if autumn had arrived. The African team lost their second wicket at a score of 24 and their third wicket at 25. Captain Aiden Markram (2) and opener Tony de Georgie (11) were the next two batsmen to get out.

Half the team was out by the time they reached 29 runs
By the time the score reached 29, half of South Africa’s batsmen were back in the pavilion. Tristan Stubbs and Jason Smith returned without opening their account. Thus, the score became 29 runs for 5 wickets. The team lost two more wickets in adding the next 7 runs to its account and the score became 36 runs for 7 wickets. Kyle Warren (10) was out and Andile Phehlukwayo could not even open his/her account.

Vian Mulder saved the honour by hitting a fifty
Now South Africa was in danger of getting all out for less than 50 runs. At this critical moment, all-rounder Wiaan Mulder took charge. he/she scored 52 runs in 84 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six. This is also his/her first half-century in ODI cricket. Wiaan Mulder shared a 39-run partnership with Bjorn Fortuin (16) and a 30-run partnership with Nandre Burger to take his/her team from 36 to 105 runs. Just one run after his/her dismissal, South Africa’s last batsman Lungi Ngidi (0) also got out. Nandre Burger scored one run in 18 balls and remained unbeaten till the end.

Farooqi took the most wickets
Afghanistan’s pacers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar played a role in making South Africa surrender like this. Fazalhaq Farooqi took the maximum number of 4 wickets from his/her team’s side. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar dismissed 3 batsmen. Rashid Khan got two wickets. One batsman was run out.
