South Africa will have to be cautious in Super-8, facing a team that has caused upsets

North Sound. South Africa will have to be cautious against the host USA, which has created an upset in the ICC T20 World Cup. A small mistake can prove costly for this team which had a narrow escape against Nepal. South Africa’s world class batsmen will come out to show their strength against the confident USA in their opening Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. The team will have no room for error.

South Africa have been unbeaten in the tournament so far and their bowlers have performed brilliantly in all four matches. Playing three matches on the challenging New York wicket and one match in Kingstown, South Africa have not crossed the 120-run mark even once. However, their batting performance does not present the image of a team that has some big hitters like Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Tristan Stubbs and David Miller. The top order with the presence of de Kock, Reeza Hendricks and captain Aiden Markram will be under pressure to perform well.

South Africa won its last match against Nepal by just one run. Being in Group 2 which also has defending champions England and hosts West Indies, it cannot take America lightly. The team would like to start its campaign in the Super Eight stage with a win. Before the World Cup, South Africa’s biggest concern was the poor form of Anrich Norkia. This star fast bowler performed brilliantly in the group stage and is currently the joint second most successful bowler in the tournament with nine wickets.

Norkia has formed a strong pair with his/her fellow fast bowler Otniel Bartman while Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada will also be ready to trouble the inexperienced batsmen of America. The co-host America’s team includes eight Indians, two Pakistanis, one West Indies, one New Zealand, one South African and one Dutch player and the team is full of enthusiasm after making it to the Super Eight while making its debut in the tournament. The team has played aggressive cricket.

America will be looking at the fitness of captain Monak Patel who missed the match against India and was also not supposed to play against Ireland due to a minor injury. After defeating former champion Pakistan in the league stage, America will be ready to pull off another upset. Although it will not be easy, the American team will be ready for the challenge.
