Sonia Gandhi again becomes the head of Congress Parliamentary Party, appeals to Rahul to become the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi was once again elected as the head of the party parliamentary party on Saturday. In the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting held in the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan, party president Mallikarjun Kharge presented a proposal to appoint Sonia Gandhi as the CPC chief, which was unanimously approved by the party MPs. Before Sonia Gandhi was elected as the CPC chief, a unanimous resolution was passed in the party’s working committee meeting and Rahul Gandhi was urged to take up the responsibility of the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

After becoming the CPP president, he/she targeted PM Modi
After being elected as the CPP President, Sonia Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that Modi has suffered a ‘political and moral defeat’ in the Lok Sabha elections and has lost the right to lead. Congress leaders said that in the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting in the Central Hall of Parliament, party president Mallikarjun Kharge presented the proposal to appoint Sonia Gandhi as the CPP chief, which was approved by three party MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Tariq Anwar and K. Sudhakaran. On being re-elected as the CPP chief, Sonia thanked the party leaders and said that the Congress has shown its determination in this election.

‘Modi has lost the right to lead’
Sonia Gandhi also claimed that Prime Minister Modi has suffered a political and moral defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and thus he/she has lost not only the mandate but also the right to lead. Sonia said, ‘The people of the country have given a decisive vote to reject the politics of division and dictatorship. They voted to strengthen parliamentary politics and protect the Constitution.

Mention of Bharat Jodo Yatra
She said that ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ were historic movements which infused new life in the party at every level. Sonia said that Rahul Gandhi deserves special thanks for his/her commitment to face unprecedented personal and political attacks. Before Sonia was elected as the CPC chief, a unanimous resolution was passed in the meeting of the party’s Working Committee (CWC) requesting Rahul Gandhi to take up the responsibility of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Congress has won 99 seats.
