Sonakshi said times of India In an interview to IANS, she said that she had to face body shaming at home due to her obesity. Her mother Poonam Sinha always kept telling her to lose weight. She said that because of her obesity, boys in school used to tease her with different names.

Before entering Bollywood, Sonakshi’s weight was 95 kg. She lost 30 kg for her first film Dabangg. She started losing weight at the age of 18.

She told that when she was overweight, she could not stay on the treadmill for more than 30 seconds in the gym. She says that she did not decide to lose weight because she wanted to get into films but because she knew it was necessary.

Sonakshi initially joined a gym but couldn’t continue. She opted for workout options that were easier. Pilates is one of them. She used to do cardio for 30-45 minutes every morning on an empty stomach followed by 20 minutes of brisk walking.

Sonakshi is a big foodie from the beginning and this was also the reason for her weight gain. However, during her weight loss journey, she took special care of a healthy diet and started taking a high-protein and low carbohydrate diet. Apart from this, she used to drink a lot of water throughout the day. To improve metabolism, she started taking small meals every 2 hours instead of eating a lot at once. Apart from this, she also does not touch carbs after 6 pm in the evening and also has dinner early.
