Something still incomplete… What did Rahul Gandhi say after Omar Abdullah took oath as CM?

New Delhi: A new government has been formed in Jammu and Kashmir. Omar Abdullah has taken oath as Chief Minister. Many big leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were present on this occasion. Congress has refused to join the government at present. Congress says that it will not join the government until Jammu and Kashmir gets full statehood.

‘Will continue to fight for full statehood’

Jammu and Kashmir has the first elected government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah after the removal of Article 370 in 2019. Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has congratulated Omar Abdullah for the post of Chief Minister. Rahul Gandhi said that without statehood, government formation seems incomplete. he/she reiterated that democracy was snatched away from the people of Jammu and Kashmir. he/she promised that he/she will continue to fight for Jammu and Kashmir until it gets full statehood. Rahul Gandhi wrote in his/her post, ‘Today we reiterate our resolve to continue our fight until full statehood is restored.

‘People of Jammu and Kashmir are looking towards you’

Omar Abdullah thanked Rahul Gandhi. he/she said that Rahul Gandhi’s presence with Priyanka Gandhi gave him/her and his/her family a lot of encouragement. Omar Abdullah wrote on Instagram, ‘The people of Jammu and Kashmir are looking at you. We need your continued support to regain our statehood. Your presence today with Priyanka Gandhi gave us great encouragement and the family was really happy to spend some time with both of you.

‘Congress is not included in the government at present’

Congress Jammu and Kashmir President Tariq Hameed Karra said that the Congress party is unhappy that Jammu and Kashmir has not been given the status of a full state. he/she said, ‘Jammu and Kashmir has not been given the status of a full state. We are unhappy, so we are not joining the government at the moment.

Priyanka Gandhi also congratulated Omar Abdullah

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also congratulated Omar Abdullah and his/her cabinet members on the occasion. he/she pledged to work together with the India Coalition for the restoration of rights in Jammu and Kashmir. he/she wrote, ‘Many congratulations to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and all the members of his/her cabinet. Thank you to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for raising the voice of justice and democracy with the power of your vote. Best wishes for the future.

he/she further wrote, the India coalition government will work diligently to fulfill all its promises and aspirations of the people along with restoring the pending rights of the people.

Omar Abdullah left cabinet vacant for Congress

The Congress’ decision to stay away from the ministry has given rise to speculations of a rift between the NC and the Congress, although Omar Abdullah has rejected this. he/she clarified that Congress has chosen not to join the cabinet immediately, but the ministerial posts are vacant as discussions are continuing between the two parties.

‘Not out of Congress cabinet’

Omar Abdullah said, ‘Congress is not out of the cabinet. It is for them to decide and we have been discussing with them. I will not fill all the 9 vacant posts in the Council of Ministers. Some posts will remain vacant because we are in talks with the Congress. Everything is fine between NC and Congress. If this had not happened then Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and senior Congress leaders would not have come here. Their presence is an indication that the alliance is strong and we will work for the people (of the state).

Let us tell you that many leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Mehbooba Mufti, Sanjay Singh and D Raja participated in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister. This swearing in took place for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370. The NC-Congress alliance emerged victorious in the recent assembly elections by securing 48 seats, with the National Conference winning 42 and the Congress six.
