Some international partners are more complex than others…where is Jaishankar pointing?


New Delhi: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has made a big comment. he/she said that friendship is no longer a monopoly, especially in the emerging multipolar world. he/she said that some international partners can be more complex than others because they may not always share a culture of mutual respect or an ethos of diplomatic courtesy.

Speaking at a book launch event in Delhi, Jaishankar said what is perceived as freedom by one nation can be seen as interference by another. he/she stressed that sensitivity to sovereignty and territorial integrity is important when evaluating international partnerships.

Jaishankar said that what is freedom for one can clearly become interference for another. The fact is that sensitivities such as sovereignty and territorial integrity will always be a factor in evaluating partners.

India’s Foreign Minister said that friendship is no longer special. Especially in this changing world, where many powers are emerging. he/she said that while deciding how we have relations with the world, we also have to keep in mind things like respecting the sovereignty and borders of countries.
