So foreign organizations conspire to defame India, know what the government told

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the Government of India is aware of the reports issued by many foreign organizations including America on the situation of human rights in India. These reports are often biased, misinformed and one-sided. Singh said that USCIRF (US Commission for International Religious Freedom) is an organization with a political agenda. The government does not consider its reports reliable. These reports distort facts and create a false narrative about India. This is the first time the ministry has spoken about USCIRF in Parliament. USCIRF in its annual report had suggested declaring India as a ‘Country of Special Concern’ due to ‘violations of religious freedom’.

‘False story about India’

In the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh clarified the government’s stand on the reports issued by various foreign organizations including America on the situation of human rights in India. he/she said that the government is aware of these reports, but considers them biased, inaccurate and one-sided. Speaking specifically on USCIRF reports, Singh said that the organization works under a political agenda and spreads a false narrative about India.

‘Fundamental rights of citizens are guaranteed in the Constitution’

The minister stressed that India is a strong democracy. The fundamental rights of citizens are guaranteed in our Constitution. An independent judiciary and independent media ensure the protection of these rights. The government has clearly rejected the USCIRF report and termed it as anti-India propaganda. The government says that the USCIRF report is not based on facts and an attempt has been made to tarnish the image of India.
