It is the rainy season and the incidence of snake bites increases these days. According to a PIB report, about 3-4 million snake bite cases are reported in India every year and 50,000 people die.

It is often seen that after snake bite, some people start removing poison through mouth, using local medicines and herbs and try various home remedies. World Health Organization (WhoWHO has strictly prohibited such methods. If you or someone in front of you gets bitten by a snake, you can try the remedies suggested by WHO to save his/her/her life.

If there is severe pain, then medicines like paracetamol can be given. Vomiting may occur after the bite, so keep the person in a comfortable position by lying on the left side. If there is difficulty in breathing, then mouth-to-mouth breathing can be given.
