SL vs ENG: This happened for the first time in the history of Test cricket, Ollie Pope created history by scoring a century


New Delhi. The third Test between Sri Lanka and England is being played at The Oval. Ben Duckett, playing for England on the first day, missed out on a century against Sri Lanka on the first day of the rain-affected third and final Test on Friday, while Ollie Pope scored a brilliant century. Ollie completed his/her century in 102 balls and gave the team the lead. This is Pope’s seventh century. With this, he/she also made a special record in his/her name.

This is the first time in the 147-year history of cricket that a player has scored his/her 7 centuries against 7 different teams. Ollie Pope has done this. Before Sri Lanka, he/she has scored his/her 6 centuries against South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, India, West Indies. Ollie Pope hit a total of 13 fours and 2 sixes in his/her innings of 103 runs. he/she is still unbeaten and is standing at the crease.

England’s score at the Oval was 194 for three at the tea break. Pope, who was leading the team in place of captain Ben Stokes, was unbeaten on 84 while Harry Brook had not opened his/her account yet. Ben Duckett played a brilliant innings of 86 runs in which he/she hit nine fours and two sixes. But while trying to play a high shot on Milan Ratnayake’s ball, he/she was caught out by wicketkeeper Dinesh Chandimal.

England has already won the series by winning the first two Tests at Old Trafford and Lord’s. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl. England lost the wicket of Dan Lawrence (05) early after which the game was stopped due to poor light. Then Duckett completed his/her 10th half-century in 48 balls. Joe Root (13) was out shortly before the tea break.
