‘Shut down NTA! NEET, UGC NET, CUET… the agency is not able to conduct even a single exam’, students are angry

After NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) students have had to face the bad system of National Testing Agency (NTA). 9.5 lakh students were registered for this test which was conducted across the country on 18th June. Many students complain that they spent money to take this exam and travelled 100 to 500 kms in the scorching heat. NTA has not even clarified what problems they faced. Many students say that NTA has become a non-trusting agency, due to which they have lost their trust. For this reason, not only students but also parents are on the streets in the scorching heat.

‘NTA failed… PhD admissions will also be late’

Prasenjit Kumar, a student of Delhi University, gave the NET exam in History. he/she says, in all the exams conducted by NTA so far, 90% of them have been rigged and fraudulent. It is clear that the National Testing Agency is under the control of the education mafia. First Well 24 lakh students were troubled and now the future of more than 9 lakh NET students has been spoiled.

he/she says, this time NET was not only for teaching eligibility but also for PhD admission. Now it has been cancelled which means PhD admission will be delayed. It is surprising that there is rigging and irregularities on such a large scale in the examination system in the country and the Education Minister is neither accepting the mistake of NTA nor the paper leak scam. There is a need to get NTA investigated, nor to get it investigated by its team.

‘From online to offline mode, but what is the guarantee of transparency’

Working student Nandlal says, the paper went well and I was hopeful that I would qualify NET. I have also qualified NET in journalism before this. I took leave from office for the test. Time, money, hard work, everything was wasted. My centre was in Jhansi and there were many students who had reached there after travelling for hours. Some had taken leave after cutting their salary, many had somehow managed to arrange money and reached the centre. Now all the students will have to do the same exercise again.

It is incomprehensible that in the digital age when everything is changing, the NET exam has been conducted in computer-based online mode. Then why has it been brought back to the old system?

Ankit Kumar, who appeared for NET from Patna, says, when the exam was held in online mode, there were chances of cheating. Fraud happens in offline mode as well. NEET is an example. Which exam can NTA conduct properly? When it cannot conduct NTET entrance for 45 thousand students and cancels it too, then how has it been given the contract of conducting such big entrances? The Education Minister should see how students prepare for the exam while facing difficulties. NTA should be closed. This entrance should be conducted by an institution like CBSE, which has experience. Whose team should have experienced experts.

From NEET to UGC NET, students are upset with the collapsing system of NTA. Protests are happening across the country. The news of sudden cancellation of NET exam also brought anger for JNU student Anvesha. She says, I gave this exam in Linguistics but it was suddenly cancelled. When I reached for protest with other students, the police detained us.

NTA Scams: Faults right from the beginning

The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) held on 12 June before NET was also cancelled by NTA on the day of the exam. 29000 students had appeared for this entrance exam for admission in the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Program. Earlier, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) was also cancelled by NTA in Delhi on the first day, due to which students faced a lot of problems. In 2023 also, in many exam centers in CUET, the exam started late by three-four hours due to server down. In 2022, CUET had to be cancelled at many centers, students missed the exam, then entrance was done again, the session was delayed by about 3 months in all the universities.
