Sholay: After 49 years, the scene on which the Censor Board’s scissors were used went viral, due to the cruelty of Gabbar Singh.

Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s evergreen and blockbuster film ‘Sholay’ is much loved even after 50 years of its release. Its re-release is attracting huge crowds in theatres. There are many famous scenes in the film that received a standing ovation, but do you know that many scenes were also removed before its release? One such deleted scene has resurfaced after 49 years. The film ‘Sholay’, released in 1975, is considered one of the most evergreen films of Hindi cinema. Its powerful story won hearts and made the audience its fans forever. However, before the release of the film, the censor board made several cuts. A scene with Gabbar Singh which was removed earlier has now gone viral and people are also reacting to it.

An Instagram account named ‘Old is Gold’ recently shared a picture of one such deleted scene. In the photo, Gabbar Singh can be seen standing menacingly, pulling Sachin Pilgaonkar’s character Ahmed, played by Amjad Khan, by the hair. There is a convoy of bandits around them. This scene was removed by the Censor Board due to excessive violence and Gabbar’s violent avatar.

Every dialogue of ‘Sholay’ is a hit and a blockbuster, especially the hair-raising line, ‘Fifty miles away from here, when the child cries at night, the mother says, ‘You go son, otherwise Gabbar will come.’

Gabbar Singh created such a fear that many scenes showing the cruelty of his/her character were censored.
