Mitchell Marsh IND vs AUS: Top Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has decided to undergo surgery on his ankle to remain fit for next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in India and will miss Australia’s tour of India at the end of the home season. According to the ICC, the 31-year-old Marsh’s decision means he will miss the entire summer of cricket in Australia due to the injury.
Marsh has been plagued by recurring pain in his left ankle, with the constant pain almost hampering his T20 World Cup campaign on home soil. The 31-year-old Marsh has to undergo surgery and needs rest to be fully fit. Marsh was not selected in Australia’s home Test squad against the West Indies, but was a member of Australia’s most recent tour of Asia, the two-match series against Sri Lanka in July.
Marsh has not played a Test match since the 2019 Ashes, although the all-rounder was looking forward to touring India for Australia’s Border-Gavaskar series, a key series in Australia’s World Test Championship final push.
“Mitchell is an important member of our team and we will support him throughout his recovery and we expect him to return to Australia’s squad for the ODI series against India in March,” Australian selection committee chairman George Bailey said in a statement. Will be available for selection.”
