Why the uproar over ‘Barzakh’?

After the release of 6 episodes of this show directed by Asim Abbasi, there has been a stir in the neighboring country. This show has bold scenes. The romance between gay couples has been shown in such a way that everyone is shocked. The makers are being accused of spoiling the culture of the country and hurting sentiments.

‘Barzakh’ banned on YouTube!

After so much uproar, the makers of the show have taken a big decision. They have banned it on YouTube. The post reads, ‘We, Zindagi and Team Barzakh… express our gratitude to the audience for the unwavering love and support the show has received. This is a show that was created to bring people together from everywhere. But in view of the current public sentiment in Pakistan, we have decided to voluntarily withdraw ‘Barzakh’ from YouTube Pakistan from 9 August 2024.’

Pakistani people still haven’t found peace?

Even after banning this show on YouTube, the Pakistani public has not found peace. On this post, a user wrote, ‘It should be banned internationally.’ Some people are supporting the makers. One commented, ‘Pakistani viewers, Asim Abbasi was trying to take your cinema forward, he/she is a great director.’
