Sheikh Hasina became the first foreign guest to visit India in Modi 3.0, these big agreements were signed

New Delhi: Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Modi government on June 9, is on a two-day visit to India. On the second day of the visit, on Saturday, Sheikh Hasina held bilateral talks with PM Narendra Modi. Apart from this, many important issues were discussed in the delegation-level talks and a consensus was reached on important agreements between the two countries. After this, the two leaders also held a joint press conference. Both the leaders approved a common vision to strengthen bilateral relations. The scope of this conversation was very large, which included all the dimensions of bilateral relations.

Discussion on many issues, both countries will benefit
Addressing the journalists, PM Modi said that in the bilateral talks with Sheikh Hasina, both the countries talked about modernizing defense production, strategy against extremism and terrorism as well as establishing peace on the borders. In the talks, there was an agreement to start negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries, including connectivity, trade infrastructure and economic partnership. During this, PM Modi said that we have prepared a future vision for cooperation. The youth of both the countries will benefit from the agreement made in green partnership, digital partnership, blue economy and space.

India is our neighbor and a trusted friend
Hasina also said that India is our neighbor and a tested friend. On relations with Bangladesh, PM Modi also said that Bangladesh is at the center of the confluence of our Neighborhood First Policy, Act East Policy, Vision Sagar and Indo Vision. More information about this bilateral conversation was also given by Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra in a press conference, in which he/she told that a total of 10 agreements have been signed between the two leaders. Both the countries also approved the vision document of future partnership, which is inspired by the Developed India 2047 and Smart Bangladesh 2041 vision. Apart from this, digital partnership and green partnership for sustainable development are also part of this shared vision. The scope of bilateral agreements is quite wide, which includes everything from railway and bus connectivity to blue economy and maritime cooperation under the Sagar Doctrine. Amidst reports of China’s interest in the Teesta Development Project, India announced that a team will soon be sent to Bangladesh for the conservation and management of Teesta. However, Katra clarified that this team will focus only on the technical management and restoration of the river.

A large number of patients from Bangladesh come to India for treatment
Apart from this, e-medical visa will soon be started for people coming to India from Bangladesh for treatment. The Foreign Secretary said that a large number of people come to India for treatment. A new passenger train will also be launched between Rajshahi and Kolkata in Bangladesh, while a bus service will be started between Kolkata and Chittagong. An inland container depot will be built in Sirajganj. Along with this, India will also set up an Assistant High Commission in Rangpur, Bangladesh. A joint technical committee will be formed to renew the 1996 Ganga Water Agreement regarding the management of rivers. A freight train will also be started between Gede Darshana and Haldibari Chilahati between the two countries. The Foreign Secretary said that the two leaders also discussed the issue of Rohingya, in which the aspect was also mentioned as to how India and Bangladesh can move forward in a humanitarian manner, along with this, the challenges related to this aspect were discussed. Along with this, both the countries also reached an agreement on the modernization of defense and space technology.
