Raja Mansingh had constructed it

Sheesh Mahal located in Amer Fort of Jaipur was built by Raja Mansingh in 1623 AD. This palace was completed in 1727. It is also considered to be the year of establishment of Jaipur state. This palace is famous for its amazing architecture and mirror work. Sheesh Mahal is famous for the filming of famous Bollywood songs from the famous movie ‘Mughal-e-Azam’.

The story is very interesting

The story of Sheeshmahal is very interesting. It is said that the Queen wished to be able to see the stars from inside the palace while sleeping at night. To fulfill this wish, the Maharaja got Sheeshmahal constructed. The pieces of glass on the walls and ceiling of the palace, when light falls on them, appear as if thousands of fireflies are glowing.

Special glasses were brought from Belgium

The mirrors in this palace were imported from Belgium. Precious gems along with mirrors were also used in the decoration of the palace, which further enhances its grandeur. This palace is a part of ‘Jai Mandir’ and is considered to be the most popular and beautiful part of Amer Fort.

One candle lights up the entire palace

Another specialty of this palace is that if a candle is lit in the dark, millions of light beams start glowing in the entire palace. This is why Sheesh Mahal is considered one of the most attractive places in Jaipur. This beauty of Sheeshmahal has also been shown in the famous song ‘Jab Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’ from the Hindi film ‘Mughal-e-Azam’.
