Shatrughan Sinha said – now the era of superstars is over, there is no power to drag the audience to the theater

Shatrughan Sinha is one of those Bollywood actors who express their opinion on every issue with impunity. Even if he has to face criticism for it. Some time ago, when Shatrughan Sinha had supported KRK i.e. Kamal R Khan in a case, he was heard a lot. But Shatrughan Sinha never bothered with criticism and now he has spoken big on boycott culture and star system in Bollywood movies. Shatrughan Sinha says that now film stars no longer have the power to drag audiences to theatres.

Shatrughan Sinha recently talked about this in a conversation with ETimes. Shatrughan Sinha was asked what he thinks on the current situation in the Hindi film industry and the condition of films at the box office. Do they think the era of superstars is over? In response to this question, Shatrughan Sinha said something worth noting.

Shatrughan Sinha said – the era of superstars is over

He said, ‘Corona epidemic broke the backbone of the film’s business and it has almost killed the stardom. The stars are no longer ‘larger-than-life’. The pandemic has made everyone equal. Right now it seems that the era of superstars is over. Only select films and stars are succeeding.

‘Stars no longer have the power to drag the audience to the theatre’
Shatrughan Sinha further said, ‘Now there is also confusion about whether to go to the theater to watch the film or watch it on OTT. Apart from this, it has become very expensive to watch a movie in the theater with family. Stars no longer have enough power to draw audiences to theatres. Now he has come to the ground with ‘plush’ characters. His personal and social image has also been tainted.

bollywood movies status at box office
In the last few months, Bollywood films have seen very bad condition at the box office. Aamir Khan’s ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ were badly hit at the box office. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Brahmastra’ somehow managed to survive at the box office and did decent business. However, its earnings were also less than expected. Apart from this, other films like ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’, ‘Dhokha: Round the Corner’ have also been in bad shape. Now the expectations are high from Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ which recently released at the box office. Some more good films will be released in the coming time. It is expected that maybe he will improve the condition of Bollywood as well as box office.
