Shashi Tharoor, who always keeps a purifier hanging around his/her neck, raised questions on Delhi remaining the capital.

New Delhi: Is Delhi even worthy of being the capital of the country? If the air of National Capital Region Delhi becomes poisonous then Congress leader Shashi Tharoor Raised the big one. Quoting the worldwide Air Quality Index (AQI), he/she said that Delhi’s air is five times worse than the world’s second most polluted city, Dhaka. In his/her X post, he/she shared a screenshot of a website that gives live data of air quality of different cities of the world. Delhi is at the top in this list with AQI of 1108.

Tharoor asked a big question on pollution

Tharoor termed the government’s silence on the plight of Delhi as inhuman and immoral. he/she wrote in his/her post, ‘Delhi is officially the most polluted city in the world, which is 4 times more than the dangerous level and almost five times worse than the second most polluted city, Dhaka. It is inhuman that our government has remained a mute spectator to this terrible situation for years but does nothing.

This city is also worthy of capital: Tharoor

Tharoor also mentioned his/her previous efforts to run an air quality roundtable with experts and stakeholders since 2015, which he/she abandoned last year due to lack of progress. ‘I have run an air quality roundtable for experts and stakeholders, including MPs, since 2015, but gave it up last year because nothing changed and no one cared,’ he/she said. The city is unlivable from November to January and barely livable during the rest of the year. Should it remain the capital of the country?’

Tharoor keeps speaking against air pollution

Shashi Tharoor has been vocal on the issue of Delhi’s poisonous air. Earlier this month, when the AQI reached a shocking level of 462, he/she had shared signboards renaming key places in Delhi as ‘Pollutense Delhi,’ ‘Haze Khas,’ ‘Dhuan Kuan’ and ‘Chandni’ Was ‘choked’. Tharoor took another taunt and said, ‘No wonder if the government ever changes the name of the main road to ‘Martavya Path’!’

Grap 4 implemented in Delhi

Keep in mind that the presence of polluting elements in the air in Delhi is being found at dangerous levels. On Monday, PM2.5 level was found to be more than 1000 in six areas of the city. The AQI level had reached 500 in 15 areas. While hearing the petition demanding to clean Delhi’s air, the Supreme Court has directed that Grape 4 should not be withdrawn without its order. Delhi government has closed schools up to 12th from Tuesday.
