Actress Sharmin Segal, who played the role of Alamzeb in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, has been facing a lot of criticism. Sharmin Segal, who is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece, said in a conversation with News18, “As a creative person, it is important to accept that ultimately our audience is the king. They have every right to express their opinion, whether it is positive or negative. There was a time when I was not paying attention to a lot of reviews but then slowly I realized that I was also losing a lot of love that I was getting. I have started paying attention to that now. In the last few days, I decided to look at all this.”

‘I gave my everything to the character of Alamzeb’

he/she further said, ‘I have given my all to the character of Alamzeb. We always focus on the negative things but there are many positive things as well which we never talk about. Perhaps talking about the positive may not be that interesting to talk about and we ignore them to a great extent. People’s opinions shape you as an actor and as a human being. These are the real people who respond to you and this makes you realize how many people you can reach. Therefore, these opinions of people are very important.’

However, this is not the first time Sharmin has appeared in front of the camera and on screen. She has worked in many other films of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, including ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao-Mastani’ as an assistant director. She made her acting debut with the 2019 film ‘Malaal’ starring Meezaan Jafri. Sharmin has also worked as an assistant director in the film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
