New Delhi. Before the MPC meeting of the Reserve Bank, pressure was seen in the stock market. Sensex and Nifty closed down 0.5 per cent. Metal, energy and IT stocks were sold in Monday’s trade, while pharma, auto stocks were under pressure, while midcap and smallcap indices closed on gains. There was a slight increase in PSE, PSU Bank and Realty Index. At the end of trading, the Sensex closed at 60,506.90, down 334.98 points, or 0.55 percent. At the same time, Nifty closed at the level of 17,764.60 with a decline of 89.45 points i.e. 0.50 percent.
Divis Laboratories, Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Tata Steel and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the biggest losers on the Nifty in Monday’s trade. On the other hand, Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, BPCL, Hero MotoCorp Steel and Apollo Hospitals were the top Nifty gainers.

In the previous trading session on Friday, the Sensex closed at 60,841.88 points with a gain of 909.64 points or 1.52 per cent. At the same time, the Nifty was at 17,854.05 points with a gain of 243.65 points or 1.38 percent.
