Shami is not out of Australia tour, may return, how will he/she get a place?

New Delhi. The Indian team going on Australia tour has been announced. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team on 25 October for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from 22 November. Injured experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami has not been given a place in the team. Notable is the absence of star fast bowler Mohammed Shami in the 18-member team for the five-match Test series, who has been out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup due to an Achilles tendon injury.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami is recovering from injury and now his/her chances of going on Australia tour have reduced but it is not completely over. According to the report of Indian Express, the final decision on Shami’s return to the Test team will be taken on the basis of his/her performance in Ranji Trophy. This bowler is expected to return to the team through two Ranji Trophy matches for Bengal. According to the information already received, Shami can play in Bengal’s fourth round match against Karnataka in Bengaluru in the first week of November after Diwali.

Bengal Ranji team coach Lakshmi Ratan Shukla confirmed that Shami will not play in the match against Kerala, but can join the team for the third round match against Karnataka and the fourth round match against Madhya Pradesh. Shami’s name is not included in the 18-member Indian team’s tour to Australia, which will be led by Rohit Sharma.
