Shah’s high level meeting amid terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, is the government preparing to take action?

New Delhi: Amid questions being raised on the country’s intelligence system in the recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting with the IB and its Multi Agency Center (MAC) on Friday. Chiefs of all the security and law enforcement agencies of the country participated in it.

What things were discussed?

According to information received from Home Ministry sources, the objective of the meeting was to eliminate terrorist networks and their supporting eco-system. In which it was said that more coordination between all the agencies is very important. It was also emphasized in the meeting that real time information should be shared between IB and other security agencies on any issue of internal security of the country. All agencies should continue their work as a platform 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The Intelligence Bureau Centre and all other agencies responsible for dealing with the security challenges of the country should work together with each other adopting a ‘whole of the government approach’ towards national security.

Emphasis on increasing coordination between agencies

Chairing the meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stressed on increasing coordination between all agencies to eliminate terrorist networks and their supporters to deal with the emerging security threat in the country. So that such incidents, which have been increasing rapidly in the country for some time, can be curbed. It was told that the MAC framework under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving towards implementing large-scale technical and operational reforms to increase its reach and impact.
