Shahrukh will be honored at the Locarno Film Festival, the first Bollywood actor to receive this honor

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan will be honoured with the Career Achievement Award at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, the organisers announced on Tuesday.

Shahrukh will be the first Indian to be awarded the ‘Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism’. Earlier, Italian filmmaker Francesco Rossi, American singer Harry Belafonte and Malaysian director Tsai Ming-Liang have been awarded this award.

This honor will be given at Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland

Khan (58) will receive the award at Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland on August 10. The festival, which begins on August 7, will also screen Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2002 film Devdas. Shah Rukh will also interact with the public at Forum Spazio Cinema on August 11.

More than 100 movies of different genres

The festival’s organisers said: “The award will be presented in recognition of Khan’s remarkable career in Indian cinema, which spans over 100 films across different genres.”
