​The scorching summer season continues and even Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan could not escape from it. he/she had to be admitted to the hospital due to heatstroke. Shahrukh had gone to Ahmedabad to watch the IPL match between his/her team Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

It is being told that he/she had suffered from dehydration due to the scorching heat of 45 degree Celsius in Ahmedabad. At present his/her health is fine and he/she can be discharged today. Meanwhile, many celebrities including Juhi Chawla came to meet him/her.

What is heat stroke?

Heat stroke, also known as sunstroke or heat stroke, is the most serious of heat-related illnesses. This happens when the body temperature suddenly rises too high and loses the ability to keep itself cool. This dangerous condition occurs when the body temperature rises above normal to 104°F (40°C) or more. Heat stroke can be fatal and in such cases immediate medical help is necessary.

  • Mental problems: Confusion, restlessness, loss of consciousness or even fainting may occur.
  • Hot and dry skin: The skin may feel hot and dry due to the body not sweating enough to cool itself.
  • Fast heartbeat: The heartbeat may increase as the body tries to cool itself.
  • Rapid breathing: Breathing can become rapid and shallow as the body tries to expel heat.
  • Nausea and vomiting: Symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may also occur.
  • Headache and dizziness: Headache, dizziness, or nervousness may also occur.

Especially while going out in summer or while exercising, keep drinking adequate amount of fluids, especially water, to ensure that there is no dehydration in the body.

Wear loose and light clothes, which can absorb sweat. It is better to wear light colored clothes as they reflect the sun’s rays. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. If you have gone out for some work, then stop occasionally to rest in the shade, drink water and keep yourself cool. Apply sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun, this can prevent sunburn and heatstroke.

Stay hydrated with beverages like homemade lemonade, cucumber-mint soup, infused water, coconut water, iced herbal tea, or homemade fruit smoothies. Avoid sugary drinks and excessive alcohol, which can increase dehydration.
