Apart from Koylanchal, Santhal Pargana is important among the 38 seats for which voting is to be held in the second phase of Jharkhand. There are a total of 18 seats in six districts of Santhal Pargana. It is said about Jharkhand that the Santhal conqueror rules. Therefore, there is a fierce competition in this area between BJP led NDA and Congress led India alliance. In the 2019 assembly elections, nine of these seats were won by JMM, while BJP and Congress won four seats each. Whereas BJP is trying to repeat the results of 2014 assembly elections this time. When he/she won seven seats from here and formed the government. About 28 percent of the population in Santhal Pargana area is tribals. Both BJP and JMA have their eyes fixed on this. Voting is also to be held on 16 seats of Koyalanchal.

face to face competition

In this election, JMM has contested the elections by putting forward the Maiya Samman Yojana and making the central government’s policies towards the state of Jharkhand an issue. On the other hand, BJP was seen taking its campaign forward by making issues of corruption in JMM government in the state, illegal infiltration in Santhal Pargana and tribal identity. In this election, two faces gained immense popularity on the ground. Among these, names of Kalpana Soren and Jairam Mahato can be taken. While the craze for Kalpana was seen among the women, the craze for Jairam was seen among the youth. BJP tried its best to win Jharkhand. From PM Modi to Home Minister Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, big leaders were seen asking for votes for BJP. Barring a few seats, the contest is one-on-one. Here JMM, Congress, RJD and Left are together, whereas in the NDA camp, BJP is contesting the elections with AJSU.

Mahavikas Aghadi vs Mahayuti clash in Maharashtra

Even though two alliances are clashing in the Maharashtra elections, the fight here is not only between BJP and Congress but also between four regional parties. This election in the state is not only a power struggle between Mahavikas Aghadi and Mahayuti, but also a real and credibility fight between the two factions that took place after the split of parties like Shiv Sena and NCP. In Aghadi there is Congress, Shiv Sena, UBT and NCP-SP, whereas in Mahayuti, there is Shinde Shiv Sena and NCP Ajit Pawar faction along with BJP. In this election, both the national parties BJP and Congress are contesting the maximum number of seats from their respective camps. While BJP is contesting on 149 seats, Shiv Sena-Shinde on 81 and Ajit Pawar’s NCP on 59 seats, Congress from Aghadi’s side is contesting on 101 seats, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is contesting on 95 seats and Sharad Pawar’s Shiv Sena is contesting on 86 seats.

In the Lok Sabha elections held this year, the India Alliance got considerable success in Maharashtra, when it won 30 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Aghadi is claiming to repeat the same victory in the assembly elections also, but after the Lok Sabha elections, BJP and Mahayuti, taking a lesson from the defeat, put all their strength in Maharashtra. Taking inspiration from the assistance given to women in other states including Madhya Pradesh, Shinde government started Ladki Bahin Yojana in the state, which has received a good response. Apart from this, BJP tried to create an atmosphere in its favor through slogans like bante to katenge, ek hain to safe hain, while its allies like Ajit Pawar were seen distancing themselves from this slogan. On the other hand, Congress and its allies cornered the Mahayuti government by focusing on issues like caste census, farmers’ issues, social justice and protection of the Constitution.

Many important faces in the field

In this election, important faces like current CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray, Congress state president Nana Patole are in the fray. Whereas Ajit Pawar is facing challenge from his/her nephew Yugrendra Pawar on NCP-SC ticket in Baramati. Whereas Eknath Shinde has fielded Milind Deora to corner Aditya Thackeray in Worli. It is noteworthy that this time in Maharashtra, rebels from political parties are challenging their own people as independents on a large scale. Rebel candidates on about 150 seats are giving sleepless nights to their loved ones.
