Scuffle between MPs, two BJP MPs injured, FIR against Rahul… Read the full timeline of the uproar in Parliament.

New Delhi: The hustle and bustle increased a lot just about an hour before the Parliament proceedings began on Thursday. BJP MPs were carrying posters with pictures of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and raising slogans against Congress near the Makar Gate of Parliament. The protest march of MPs of India including Congress reached the same direction under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi. They accused Home Minister Amit Shah of insulting Ambedkar and raised slogans against him/her. he/she encountered BJP MPs present at Makar Dwar. From around 10:30 to 10:45 there was a scuffle with loud sloganeering from both sides:

What does BJP have to say?

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Makar Dwar is the main entry gate for MPs. On Thursday, NDA MPs demonstrated against Congress for insulting Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Rahul Gandhi badly injured two BJP MPs – Pratap Singh Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput by pushing them hard. Blood came from his/her head. BJP MP from Nagaland Phangnon Konyak alleged that Rahul Gandhi came in front of me along with other MPs of his/her party, while a separate path was made for them. he/she abused in a loud voice. I was feeling uncomfortable. Sarangi said, I was standing on the stairs. Then Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP and he/she fell on me. I also fell and got hurt.

Priyanka Gandhi said that this conspiracy has been hatched only to save Amit Shah ji. Kharge ji was pushed to the ground in front of my eyes. At the same time, Rahul said, ‘We were going peacefully from Ambedkar statue to Parliament. BJP MPs were standing on the steps of Parliament, who did not allow us to enter. he/she has insulted Ambedkar, Amit Shah should apologize and resign. Meanwhile, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘BJP people came and sat at the door to stop us. Women MPs of INDIA alliance were also stopped from entering. They pushed me, I lost my balance and fell down, but on the contrary they are blaming us that we pushed them.

Two MPs in ICU

BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were brought from Parliament to RML Hospital with head injuries. The doctor said that Sarangi was bleeding profusely. There was a deep wound on his/her forehead. Had to get stitches. Mukesh Rajput also got head injury. he/she was conscious when he/she was brought to the hospital. Both were kept in ICU. Many MPs came to meet him/her.

lodged complaint

Both parties lodged complaints at the Parliament Street police station. Along with this, the complaint has been submitted to the Chairman of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. NDA and Congress blamed each other for the incident that took place in the Parliament complex. Anurag Thakur said that he/she has given a complaint against Rahul Gandhi. Congress said that it has filed a complaint against the misbehaving BJP MPs.

Congress has alleged that the government directed to remove the clip of Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on Ambedkar from social media platform X. Congress leaders received an email from X. It also said that the video will not be removed under freedom of expression.

Uproar in Parliament too

There was uproar in both the houses over Amit Shah’s statement and allegations of pushing and shoving against Rahul Gandhi. Due to this, Parliament could not function and both houses had to be adjourned.

Notice demanding removal of Dhankhar rejected

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh on Thursday rejected the notice given by the opposition to remove Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post. 60 opposition MPs had given notice to bring a no-confidence motion. Sources said that Harivansh termed the notice against Dhankhar as unfair, full of mistakes and prepared in haste. he/she said that the notice that was given was not addressed to any particular authority. The spelling of the Vice President’s name was not correct anywhere in the notice. The notice is an ‘audacity’ to deliberately trivialize and insult a high constitutional post.

At around 10:15 NDA MPs were raising slogans against Congress. At 10:20, Congress and INDIA MPs carrying Ambedkar’s photo in their hands reached in front of Makar Dwar shouting slogans. Priyanka Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge were seen at the forefront. Priyanka Gandhi also had Ambedkar’s picture in her hand. Some women MPs of BJP also sat there and started raising slogans. Many opposition MPs including Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi were wearing blue clothes.

After this, the MPs of the opposition and the opposition faced each other in the open space between the Constitution House (the old building of the House) and the Parliament House. Sloganeering intensified and then allegations of pushing and shoving started. Suddenly, BJP MP Pratap Sarangi was taken on a wheel chair from the crowd and taken towards the ambulance. Sarangi said, ‘I was standing on the stairs. Then Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP and he/she fell on me. Due to which I fell and got hurt.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju alleged that Rahul Gandhi came and directly pushed and injured two BJP MPs. Rijiju said to Rahul Gandhi, ‘What is the point of showing your wrestling? Have you learned Karate Kungfu to kill other MPs? Is Parliament an arena to show strength? he/she said that two of our MPs are seriously injured and we will see what further action to take.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that Rahul Gandhi’s behavior today was like that of a street goon. Two demonstrations were taking place. There was a distance of about 80-90 meters in both the demonstrations, one ours and one theirs. There were a few minutes left for Parliament to function. They (Rahul and Congress MPs) came where NDA MPs were protesting. They could also move from left to right. he/she came in the middle of the demonstration. he/she pushed with his/her hand and BJP MP Mukesh Rajput and Sarangi fell. Both are injured. After this the matter heated up. But, NDA MPs acted patiently and did not raise their hands against anyone. Rahul Gandhi went inside the Parliament and then came out and went away smiling to see what had happened to the Sarangi. Tiwari alleged that this fight was done deliberately by Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that when people of the opposition party protest, they unilaterally give way to whoever wants to go. BJP MPs had brought posters mounted on sticks. This was a well-planned conspiracy. We were coming in line one by one. When we were leaving, BJP MPs laid complete siege. In the scuffle, our leader Mallikarjan Kharge, who is 84 years old, fell. he/she has injured his/her knee. When a BJP member collapsed, Rahul Gandhi went to inquire about his/her condition. Congress MP Digvijay Singh said that our program was already decided that we would march from Baba Saheb’s statue to Makar Dwar. They (BJP MPs) surrounded Makar Dwar and protested with sticks. Now who gave permission to come with the stick?

Singh said that the earlier security of Parliament knew us and knew all the rules and regulations. Ever since CISF has arrived, they are unaware of the protocols of parliamentary security. So when we came there and Priyanka Gandhi and our other woman MP were walking ahead, they stopped us there and did not let us inside. There was pressure from one side and pressure from the back. he/she said that our national president Mallikarjun Kharge has undergone operation on both his/her knees. he/she was shocked and fell and injured his/her knees. The Congress leader said that the behavior of the BJP MPs made it clear that they intended to fight.

PM knows the condition of injured BJP MPs

Two BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. A statement was issued by the hospital saying that both the MPs have suffered head injuries and have been kept in the ICU. According to the doctor, Sarangi is bleeding a lot and has a deep cut. Rajput had earlier become unconscious and his/her BP had also increased. Many BJP MPs, leaders and ministers went to the hospital to meet both. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also went to the hospital and said that Sarangi had two stitches in his/her head. Rajput also suffered head injury. The condition of both is stable. The doctor has said that it may take at least two-three days in the hospital. PM Narendra Modi inquired about the well being of the injured MPs. he/she expressed deep concern over the incident and spoke to the two injured MPs on phone and inquired about their health.

Kharge’s letter to the speaker, I was pushed

Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla claiming that BJP MPs pushed him/her due to which he/she lost his/her balance and was forced to sit on the ground. he/she wrote that this caused injury to my knees, which have already undergone surgery. After this, the Congress MP brought a chair and I was made to sit on it. Kharge demanded the Speaker to order an investigation into the incident and said it was an attack not only on me but on the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition and the Congress President. Congress MPs have also written a letter to the Speaker.

How was the atmosphere inside the Lok Sabha

As soon as the House proceedings began at 11 am, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla informed about the demise of former Congress member EVKS Elangovan and mentioned his/her political career. After this, the House kept silence for a few moments and paid tribute to the former member. Then members of Congress and many other opposition parties tried to raise the issue related to Amit Shah’s remarks in the House and then allegations were also made from the ruling party.

Within three minutes the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 2 o’clock. When the House proceedings were to begin at 2 pm, Congress MPs came into the House under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi, holding Ambedkar’s photo in their hands and kept raising slogans of Jai Bhim. Priyanka Gandhi told the ruling party MPs sitting in front that if you believe in Ambedkar then say Jai Bhim. As soon as the House proceedings began, Congress MPs came to the well and raised slogans of Jai Bhim. Within a minute, Presiding Officer Dilip Saikia adjourned the proceedings of the House till 11 am on Friday. Even after Dilip Saikia left, Congress MPs climbed near the Speaker’s chair and raised slogans of Jai Bhim.
