Scorching heat in the north, cold-cool cool-cool in the south… the weather became dishonest before the monsoon.

New Delhi: The entire North India is in the grip of extreme heat. Be it Delhi-NCR or other states including Rajasthan, the mercury is rising rapidly. The situation is such that people have to face the scorching sun since morning. People going out during the day have to endure hot winds and heat waves. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of respite from the scorching heat in the coming days. The mercury in Delhi is likely to rise till Friday. While on one hand North India is scorching badly, the weather has changed in South Indian states. It has rained at many places. Meanwhile, IMD has given an important update regarding monsoon.

Weather changed due to rain in Kerala

The weather patterns changed in Kerala on Tuesday. It rained heavily in many areas. This gave people relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, apart from Kerala, the weather patterns may also change in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Karnataka. Widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/hr) is likely in the coming days. Scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema during the next five days. The good thing is that this time the monsoon is appearing at a different pace. There are chances of its entry before the scheduled time.

Severe heat in North India including Delhi, Haryana

The latest update of the Indian Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of severe heat wave in many areas of Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh and North-Western Madhya Pradesh till May 24. There are chances of severe heat at some places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on 21-22 May. There is a possibility of heat wave in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and north-eastern Madhya Pradesh, Bihar till May 24. The effect of hot winds will also be visible in Odisha during 21st to 23rd May. Scorching heat alert has been issued in many places including Konkan and Goa, Bihar, Jharkhand.

The condition is worse due to heat in Rajasthan, mercury will rise further

Radheshyam Sharma, Director of Meteorological Center, Jaipur, says that in the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature has been recorded above 45 degrees Celsius in various areas of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota. The maximum temperature recorded in Pilani in 24 hours was 46.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to increase by 2 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours. Red alert has been issued for maximum areas of Jodhpur and Bikaner. The heat wave will continue. Between May 23-25, the maximum temperature may cross 46 degrees Celsius in many areas of Bharatpur, Jaipur and Kota.

What is the update regarding monsoon?

According to IMD, during the next 2 to 3 days, the effect of monsoon may be seen in some parts of the south-east Arabian Sea and some other parts of Maldives. Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
