New Delhi. Scotland missed out on a major upset in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday. After coming very close to defeating Australia, they had to face defeat in the match. With this, the England team has got a big relief. They have confirmed their place in the Super-8. Australia and England made their place in the Super-8 from Group-B. Batting first, Scotland scored 180 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. While chasing the target, Australia won the match two balls earlier after losing five wickets.

The hero of the Kangaroo team’s victory was Marcus Stoinis, who played an innings of 59 runs in 29 balls. Apart from this, opening batsman Travis Head also made an important contribution of 68 runs in 49 balls. While chasing the target, at one point the Australian team was looking very difficult. The team lost its three wickets at just 60 runs. From here onwards Stoinis and Head took the responsibility of scoring runs. Both made a partnership of 80 runs for the fourth wicket and brought the match very close.

Scotland’s batsmen scored a lot of runs
Scotland scored a lot of runs while batting first. After losing their first wicket for just three runs, Scotland scored brilliant runs for the second wicket. George Munsey and Brandon McMullen made an 89-run partnership for the second wicket. Scotland’s score was close to 100 runs after the first 10 overs. Munsey scored 53 runs in 23 balls while McMullen scored 60 runs in 34 balls. Six sixes and two fours also came from his/her bat. Captain Richie Berrington scored 42 runs in 31 balls. With the help of which Scotland’s team scored 180/5 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
