Saif held the accused tightly, to free him/her he/she stabbed him/her, hid in the garden of the building for 2 hours


The Bangladeshi national arrested for attacking Saif Ali Khan with a knife has told the police that he/she stabbed the actor several times on the back to free himself from Saif’s strong grip. An official gave this information on Tuesday. After the attack, the intruder fled from Khan’s flat in Bandra here and hid in the garden of the building for about two hours, he/she said. Police on Sunday arrested the accused Shariful Islam Shahzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Faqir (30) alias Vijay Das from neighboring Thane city. Was arrested in the early hours of January 16 for attacking a 54-year-old Bollywood star with a knife. Saif suffered multiple injuries in the attack and underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital. Doctors had taken out a 2.5 inch piece of the knife lodged near the actor’s spine.

Mumbai Police found 19 fingerprints of Shahzad from Saif Ali Khan’s house, took them home and recreated the crime scene.

‘Saif held the accused tightly’

The police officer said, ‘The accused entered the actor’s flat in Satguru Sharan Building through the bathroom window with the intention of theft. As soon as he/she entered the house, the actor’s staff saw him/her and started arguing with him/her. Within some time, Saif Ali Khan came there and sensing danger, he/she held the accused tightly from the front.

The accused had attacked to free himself

he/she said, ‘When the accused did not get a chance to escape, he/she started stabbing the actor with a knife on his/her back to free himself from their grip. Saif was injured in the attack, but the accused somehow managed to escape from his/her grip. Later, Saif closed the main door of his/her flat believing that the attacker was still inside. The officer said that the accused, however, managed to escape through the same route through which he/she had entered.

The accused hid in the garden of the building for two hours

he/she told that after this the accused came down and hid in the garden of the building for about two hours. Police had earlier said that the accused’s fingerprints were found at the crime scene, including on the bathroom window from where he/she entered and exited. Apart from this, his/her fingerprints were also found on the duct shaft and the ladder which he/she had used to enter the duct.

Saif got discharged from hospital after 5 days

he/she said Fakir, a native of Jhalokathi district of Bangladesh, had been living in Mumbai for more than five months and was doing odd jobs and was associated with a housekeeping agency. On Sunday, a Mumbai court sent the accused to five-day police custody. Khan was released from the hospital on Tuesday, five days after the attack.
