This is South Africa’s lowest score in the first innings against Sri Lanka in 18 years. In 2006, Sri Lanka had bowled out South Africa for 169 runs in the first innings of the Colombo Test.

This match between Sri Lanka and South Africa is important in the race for the WTC final. Whichever team wins this match will reach second place in the points table. Currently, India is at first and Australia at second place in the points table. In such a situation, Australia would not want any result in this match. he/she would like this match to remain inconclusive i.e. a draw.
