Rules of hearing of cases changed in Supreme Court, see on which day, which cases will be heard


New Delhi : Now a new system is going to be implemented in the country’s top court regarding hearing of cases. This step has been taken by Justice Sanjeev Khanna, who is about to become the Chief Justice. A new circular has been issued on Saturday regarding hearing of cases in the Supreme Court, days after Justice Sanjiv Khanna took charge as the Chief Justice of India (CJI).

What is there in the new circular?

According to the circular, cases for regular hearing on Wednesday and Thursday will no longer be listed in the apex court. The circular said that from now onwards, miscellaneous matters including transfer petitions and bail matters will be listed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after notice. In such a situation, no case related to regular hearing will be listed for hearing on Wednesday and Thursday till further orders.

Hearing on new cases on first Monday, Friday

The circular clearly states that the matters for special bench or partial hearing, whether miscellaneous or regular hearing, which have been directed to be listed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, will be listed in the post-lunch session of the court or in the hearing of the competent authority. Will be listed as per instructions. As per the existing tradition of the Supreme Court, new cases are listed on Monday and Friday, when miscellaneous matters are heard.

Apart from this, those cases of regular hearing are listed on Tuesday and Thursday, where the final hearing in the case is to be held.
