According to legend, a hunter named Kannappa offered his/her eye to Shiva Lingam as a symbol of his/her devotion. Before he/she could sacrifice his/her other eye, Shiva appeared in front of him/her, influenced by his/her deep faith and dedication. Kannapa was born in a hunter family as Thinnadu, especially from the Sown tribe. he/she was known for his/her hunting skills.
