Rohit Sharma’s full name is Rohit Gurunath Sharma and he/she was born on 30 April 1987 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. his/her mother’s name is Purnima Sharma and father’s name is Gurunath Sharma. Rohit Sharma is known as a right-handed top-order opening batsman but in childhood his/her cricket debut was as an off-break bowler, later he/she also developed batting skills inside him/her.

Changed school on the advice of coach

In 1999, Rohit’s uncle enrolled him/her in a cricket camp amid financial difficulties at home. The camp coach Dinesh Lad suggested Rohit to join Swami Vivekananda International School, Mumbai, as the school had better facilities for cricket training and he/she was the head coach there.

Dinesh Lad trained Rohit without charging any coaching fees, where the foundation of Rohit’s early professional cricket was laid. It was his/her coach Dinesh Lad who recognised his/her talent and skills and inspired him/her towards cricket.

Full focus on cricket

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma decided to quit his/her studies during graduation after 12th in order to become a hitman by focusing completely on cricket instead of his/her college studies. he/she said goodbye to studies at the age of just 17-18 years.

After completing his/her schooling at Swami Vivekananda International School, Mumbai, Rohit joined Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce to pursue graduation but could not complete his/her degree.

Debut in international cricket career

Making his/her international debut in June 2007, Rohit Sharma also played the first T20 Cricket World Cup in the same year in which India won the title and with the victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, he/she has said goodbye to T20 international cricket.
