‘Rohit is one of the best openers … there is no need to tell about Virat’

Shubman Gill says that there is no discussion about the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Indian dressing room. India and New Zealand teams will collide in Dubai in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.

New Delhi. There is speculation about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s ODI future. India have to face New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday. It is being said that after the final, both these veteran can say goodbye to international cricket. But in the midst of all this, Team India vice -captain Shubman Gill says that the retirement of these two great players is not being discussed in the Indian dressing room. Kohli and Rohit are still batting strongly in this format. But there is a discussion in the cricket world that if India wins the Champions Trophy, then both batsmen or at least one can say goodbye to their career.

Shubman Gill said in a press conference on the eve of the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand on Sunday, “There is no discussion about retirement in the dressing room.” Gill feels proud when he/she is a part of the ‘best batting order’. But he/she said that in the batting order, the depth allows the top three players to express themselves independently. This is the best batting order of which I am part. Rohit (of the world) is one of the best openers and there is no need to tell about Virat. But our team is depth in batting and this allows the top order to bat with a little more freedom.

Gill is aware of the heavy pressure to win the trophy. he/she said, ‘We are all excited for the finals. Last time we could not win the 50 -over World Cup, but we are firm to win this time.

Shubman Gill said that the team will handle the pressure in the big day and win the trophy. Gill said, ‘There will be pressure in big matches. But whatever team will deal with pressure, it will win the final. We have to take it like any other match and good teams will do the same. We have played four matches here and have done well, so there is no additional pressure on us.
